Contractors begin gathering soil samples near Jacksonville Superfund site

The search for dioxin, a hazardous industrial byproduct, is on in residential properties near the Vertac Inc. Superfund Site in Jacksonville. Contractors are going to gather soil from about 30 properties to assess the potential health risks in the area. 

Bank of America to pay $29 million for Superfund site cleanup

The EPA is holding Bank of America accountable for the cleanup of the White Swan Superfund site, which has been owned by the bank since 2004. The proposed settlement would require Bank of America to pay $29 million for vapor intrusion and groundwater cleanup work at the Superfund site.

June 12 will be the first day of the cleanup efforts at the old Spartan Chemical Superfund site, which is located in Wyoming, Michigan. Metal removal, along with the removal of VOC impacted soil will take place.

The EPA has announced a proposed cleanup plan for the Amcast Industrial Corp. Superfund site in Cedarburg, Wisconsin. On May 31, the EPA will host a public meeting to answer any questions residents may have. This also gives residents an opportunity to comment on the proposed cleanup plan.

Chem Fab Superfund groundwater treatment plan is complete

With the help of $2.9 million from the Biden-Harris Administration’s Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, the groundwater treatment system at the Chem Fab Superfund site in Doylestown, Pennsylvania is now complete. The funding helped to expedite the process and moves the site one step closer to redevelopment.
