The NFL has named Jeff Miller as the new head of league security.

The former commissioner of the Pennsylvania State Police, Miller succeeds Milt Ahlerich, who retired last week.

Miller started with the NFL in 2008 as the director of strategic security. He has since overseen the implementation of the league's fan code of conduct.

When he began as the director of strategic security, one of Miller's responsibilities was to enforce policies designed to prevent teams from stealing others' signals.

He assumes the role Ahlerich served in for 15 years.
