Offshore oil and gas wells with maturing or aging assets can become costly non-performers, as operating expenses surpass revenue generated. 

The project, set to begin in 2027, aims to increase oil recovery by injecting water into the Vito reservoir in the Gulf of Mexico.

In West Texas, ranchers like Schuyler Wight have noticed a growing number of abandoned wells coming back to life, with gassy water gushing onto their land.

The report urges Illinois to seize this opportunity by leveraging new federal funding for abandoned mine land remediation.

The researchers underscore that the developed coating can also be applied to graphene oxide and titanium dioxide, used for environmental remediation.

The order comes in response to Tallahassee’s failure to comply with two previous orders issued in September and November 2023.
