Rain Miao

Yu (Rain) Miao is the assistant professor in Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering and Department of Marine and Environmental Sciences at Northeastern University. Miao has conducted research on water and soil remediation across various scales and carbon cycling in saltmarshes, with emphasis on multi-omics and metabolic and ecological models, as well as defined microbial communities design. Miao obtained his postdoctoral training at UCLA, working on biodegradation modelling and energy recovery, where he received 2022 Chancellor’s Award for Postdoctoral Research. He earned his doctorate in Civil Engineering in 2019 from UCLA, focusing on bioremediation and microbial ecology, and received 2019 UCLA Outstanding Doctor of Philosophy in Civil Engineering.
