Holden Nelson

Ph.D. Candidate
Michigan State University

Holden is a Ph.D candidate at Michigan State University in the Departments of Integrative Biology and Chemistry. Holden’s research is primarily in environmental forensics, specifically in source at-tribution of PFAS compounds in multi-source systems. He is developing high resolution mass spec-trometry methods to isotopically distinguish between chemically identical PFAS congeners. Enabling identification of sources of PFAS, this method aims to both 1.) assist in guiding remediation efforts, and 2.) help identify what parties should be financially responsible for a remediation project.
