Heather Henry is an environmental scientist with over 20 years' experience in research and technology transfer to improve sustainability and cost effectiveness of site assessment and remediation. She is a senior Program Officer for the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS/NIH) Superfund Research Program, directing a multi-million-dollar portfolio of innovative research grants to universities and small businesses. Her focus areas include bioremediation; bioavailability; sustainable technologies for soil, water, sediment, mining, groundwater, and wastewater; novel devices for site monitoring; emerging contaminants; disaster research response; and integration of public health with engineering sciences. She represents NIEHS on several interagency committees including the Federal Remediation Technology Roundtable, Interstate Technology Regulatory Council, National Nanotechnology Initiative Water Sustainability, and the former White House Office of Science and Technology Policy PFAS Strategy Team. She holds a B.S. in Biology from the University of Rochester; Ph.D. in Biology from the University of Cincinnati; and a U.S. Fulbright Postdoctoral Research Fellowship in collaboration with the University of Melbourne, University of Adelaide, and Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) in Australia.
