Assistant Professor - Environmental Engineering
University of Texas at Austin
Courtney Gardner is an Assistant Professor of Environmental Engineering at the University of Texas at Austin. Before she arrived at UT Austin, she obtained her Ph.D. in Civil & Environmental Engineering from Duke University while researching the environmental fate of antibiotic resistance in wastewater treatment and agricultural systems. Dr. Gardner’s research group leverages principles from molecular biotechnology, biogeochemistry, and environmental engineering to examine how stress encourages adaptation in environmental microbial communities. Her current research is focused on evaluating post-wildfire perturbations in aquatic microbiomes, the environmental implications of RNAi biotechnology, and precision stormwater quality treatment strategies.
