Ph.D. Candidate
Princeton University
Chiara is a Ph.D. candidate in Princeton University’s Civil and Environmental Engineering department. At Princeton she researches PFAS remediation using Acidimicrobium sp. Strain A6 (A6). Her work aims to advance the field of bioremediation for PFAS. Her projects focus on PFAS remediation in sediment batch incubations, enrichment culture incubations, and pure culture incubations. Her sediment batch incubations investigate the feasibility of PFAS bioremediation in sediment with environmentally relevant levels of PFAS. On a more fundamental level, she is interested in tracking PFAS degradation products during the biodefluorination by A6 to determine the mechanism of degradation and the enzymes responsible.
