Ph.D. Student
University of Illinois - Chicago

Atefeh Nadeali is a third-year Ph.D. student in Chemical Engineering at the University of Illinois Chicago. Her master’s research focused on CO₂ separation from natural gas using membrane technology, resulting in five published articles. In her Ph.D., she specializes in electrochemical water remediation, completing 2 projects on nitrate reduction with Magnéli phase electrode and nonprecious catalysts, and PFAS oxidation using cost-effective, energy-efficient materials. She has peer-reviewed three ACS journal articles and has expertise in XRD, XPS, IC, HPLC, SEM, electrode/membrane synthesis, and nanoparticle fabrication. Her work aims to advance sustainable water treatment through innovative catalyst design and process optimization.
