Prof. Jinyong Liu received his Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry and Master’s degree in Environmental Science & Engineering from Tsinghua University and his Ph.D. degree in Environmental Engineering from U of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He joined the Department of Chemical and Environmental Engineering at UC Riverside in 2016. Current research topics include (i) photochemical degradation of PFAS, (ii) catalytic reduction of oxyanions, and (iii) transition metal chemistry for environmental applications. Prof. Liu received the Young Investigator Award by the Chinese-American Professors in Environmental Engineering and Science (CAPEES) and the Young Talent Award by the FESE journal in 2022. His Ph.D. students at UCR have received one AEESP Paul V. Roberts Outstanding Doctoral Dissertation Award (2021), one CAPEES Founding President Best Paper Award (2023), four ACS C. Ellen Gonter Environmental Chemistry Awards (2019, 2020, 2021, 2022), four ACS Graduate Student Awards in Environmental Chemistry (2019, 2020, 2021, 2023), and the 1st place in the REMTEC Summit Student Poster Competition (2022).
